  • Robert Guldenschuh

    Founder & President

Robert Guldenschuh is the Founder and President of City of Bridges Lacrosse Foundation, driven by a passion for expanding access to lacrosse in Pittsburgh. Growing up in Westmoreland County, Robert fell in love with the sport at an early age. However, when it came time for high school, he faced a tough decision—his local school district didn’t offer lacrosse, meaning that if he wanted to continue playing, he had to attend a private school.

Robert was fortunate to continue his lacrosse journey at The Kiski School and later at Kenyon College, where he played at the collegiate level. However, he knew that for many kids in Pittsburgh, this wasn’t an option. The lack of lacrosse programs in public schools created a barrier, preventing young athletes from experiencing the sport’s benefits.

Determined to change that, Robert founded City of Bridges Lacrosse Foundation to ensure that no child has to choose between their school and their sport.

Robert’s vision is simple: every child in Pittsburgh should have the opportunity to play lacrosse.

  • Ben Tackett

    Founder & Vice President

Ben Tackett is a founding member and treasurer of City of Bridges Lacrosse Foundation. A Butler, PA native, Ben started playing lacrosse in 6th grade with Butler Youth Lacrosse before joining the inaugural team at Knoch High School. He later transferred to The Kiski School, where he played midfield for the Cougars.

Ben went on to play at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he was elected senior captain and earned multiple accolades, including All-American honors and selection to the D3 Senior Bowl. After college, he spent a season on the practice squad for the Dallas Rattlers.

Ben’s coaching journey began in college and has since taken him from guiding local travel teams to coaching high school and collegiate programs, including Robert Morris University and his alma mater, The Kiski School, where he now serves as head coach.

Lacrosse has given Ben countless opportunities and lifelong friendships, and he hopes to pass those same experiences on to the next generation of Pittsburgh players.

  • Zach Romac

    Founder & Treasurer

Zach Romac is a founding member and treasurer of City of Bridges Lacrosse Foundation. He started playing lacrosse by chance, and hopes to be the spark for other Pittsburgh kids who might not know what lacrosse is.

    From Zach:

“Believe it or not, I didn’t even choose to play lacrosse. In 6th grade my friend’s mom signed her son up for the middle school lacrosse team because they needed a goalie. Then she felt bad because he didn’t have many friends on the team. So one Sunday at church, she turned around and, in 30 seconds convinced my mom to sign me up for the team. To this day, I’m grateful for Mrs. Ireland’s power of persuasion.”

Zach went to practice the next week and immediately took to the sport. He was a starter and leading scorer that season and never looked back. Just kidding. He sucked. But with time, he got good— and in the process, made lifelong friends and travelled around the country playing a sport he grew to love.

Zach’s vision for COBL is rooted in his own journey: to hone Mrs. Irelands power of persuasion and give as many kids as possible the chance to play lacrosse.

  • Michael Nelson

    Founder & Secretary

Originally from the Philly area, Michael didn’t start out as a lacrosse player—in fact, baseball was his first love. That all changed when he attended a lacrosse camp at age 10. Intrigued, he signed up for his local league just to give it a try. Before long, he was skipping baseball games to make it to lacrosse practices, completely hooked on the sport.

Michael went on to play Division I lacrosse at the University of Vermont, where his passion for the game continued to grow. After moving to Pittsburgh, he fell in love with the city’s vibrant lacrosse community and became passionate about seeing the sport continue to thrive and expand.

Now, through City of Bridges Lacrosse Foundation, Michael is committed to giving kids in Pittsburgh the same chance he had—just to try the sport and see where it takes them. He knows firsthand that something as simple as picking up a stick can spark a lifelong passion, and he wants to make that opportunity available to every kid in the city. Whether it leads to playing in college or just finding a place to belong, Michael believes that everyone deserves the chance to fall in love with lacrosse.
